It’s a tough question, especially if you’re really truthful. Many times companies get stuck because their competitive differentiation has eroded over the years. Often times, new competitors enter the market or new technologies are introduced and, all of a sudden, your company begins to slip.
Why is differentiation so important? When your product or service reaches a point where it’s “good enough,” then customers will no longer pay a premium for higher quality or reliability. Your product features and benefits become table stakes.
